HOW TO REACH TURIN
BY PLANE The International airport of Turin is only 16 kilometers away from the city centre, the Conference centre and the hotels. Bus service between the airport and downtown has several stops including Turin’s Railway Stations. The nearest to the Conference Venue is Porta Nuova. For information about destinations, time and fees of the bus to/from the city center please visit www.aeroportoditorino.it BY TRAIN The main Railway Stations in Turin are: - Porta Nuova (by/from Rome, Milan, Genoa, Florence, Bologna, Venice, France) - Porta Susa (by/from Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologna, Venice, Spain and TGV by/from France) - Lingotto (halfway railway station by/from Rome, Genoa, Florence) - Stazione Dora (by/from International Airport of Turin every 30 minutes) For further information on train services and timetables visit www.trenitalia.it BY CAR It is easy to reach Torino by car thanks to its highway network. - 1. From Milan or Venice through the A4 motorway - 2. From Bologna – Rome and Naples through the A1 and A21 motorways - 3. From France (Nice) and Ventimille through the A10 and A6 motorways - 4. From France (Mont Blanc tunnel) and from Switzerland through the A5 motorway - 5. From France (Fréjus tunnel or Mont-Genèvre pass) through the A32 motorway. IN TOWN Local Transportation in Torino Public transport in the city is well organized. Tickets must be purchased in advance at tobacco shops or metro stations. For more information visit www.comune.torino.it/gtt TAXI You can take a taxi anywhere in the city. You can ask the concierge of your hotel to call one for you or you can dial the 011/5730. Currency, Exchange, Credit Cards The official currency in Italy is the Euro. You can exchange foreign currency in several banks and Currency Exchange Businesses. Bank cheques are not so widespread and rarely accepted. Credit cards are very common in the urban areas. Shops and restaurants that normally accept credits cards display a list of these cards on their shop windows. It's advisable to carry some cash with, since for small purchases, shops do normally prefer to be paid cash. Bank opening hours: Mo - Fri: from 08:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m. and from 02:30 p.m. to 04:30 p.m. Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Shopping hours The usual shopping hours in Torino are from 09:00 to 19:30; in big shopping centres up to 21:00. The 8 Gallery of Lingotto centre has more than 90 shops, a multiplex cinema, 12 restaurants and bars, a supermarket, a Postal office and a Bank. It's opening hours are Monday: 14-22; Tuesday-Sunday: 10-22. Smoking Smoking is not allowed inside the Congress buildings, at the venues for the social functions and in all public locals in the city. Smokers are kindly required to smoke outdoors or in the smoking areas. Electricity Supply In Italy electricity is generally supplied at 220 volts and a frequency of 50 Hz. Plugs are normally with two or three pins. Plug adaptors or converters might be necessary for those coming e.g. from the USA, UK and Japan. Telephones The dialling code for Italy is +39 followed by the code of the city (i.e. if you want to call Torino you should dial +39 011 and the telephone number of the person you are calling). Pre-paid telephone cards are very easy to use and can be bought in any tobacco shop or in newsstands. Don't forget that Emergencies Numbers are free of charge.
